The Review
The story is about a widow Morenike and her daughter Damilola, Morenike has been widowed for 7years and had been surviving with the help of her late husband Akin’s friend Olayinka.
The main character in the movie is Damilola, who got admission in the university and had a confrontation with a new student like her called Tokunbo who was the son of a former Minister chief DeSouza, who fell in love with her after he had a dispute with his girlfriend Rose. Furthermore, she fell in love with Bayo a 300L student after he helped her and her friend Joke with their assignment. One thing led to another, Damilola and Bayo started dating until Bayo graduated and had to leave for youth service, the relationship did not last because he said he couldn’t make any promises. She started dating Tokunbo after she lost contact with Bayo, after some years they got married and had a daughter. One day she bumped into Bayo who wanted her to come back to him, she went back home and slept to ease her confusion. She started misbehaving at home and ultimately wanted a divorce from her husband, after her marriage was annulled despite pleading from family and friends, she went back to Bayo her first love but she never found joy with him because after a period of time he died in a plane crash while on a business trip. While lamenting on how she ruined her life, she heard her phone ring and woke up from sleep having realized that it was a dream, she answered the call knowing it was Bayo and told him never to disturb her again and that was how she was able to save her matrimonial home.

The story is different from most of Nigerian movies in the sense that you would not know where the story is headed(whether she would stick with Tokunbo or elope with Bayo) and it isn’t in two parts.
The story is realistic except the minor story of Morenike and Olayinka getting married and his mother being understanding about the issue. It was well written and well edited, the subtitle was in perfect English. The movie was also well directed except the scene where she saw Bayo after many years, she wasn’t shocked, she only appeared to be surprised.
However this is probably one of the best love stories ever produced in Nigeria and for a first timer Doris Simeon to have produced this movie shows that Nigerian producers are not putting much efforts into production of films.
