PLOT: The movie opens with Amarachi (Mercy Johnson) in her village home tending to her sick grandmother. Amarachi’s grandmother knowing she was about to die charges amarachi with some words of wisdom, advising her never to give up in anything she does. According to the movie amarachi is a brilliant and smart poor girl whose parents died of food poisoning when she was just two years old. Ever since then, she lived with her grandmother who is now dead.
Amarachi’s grandmother dies before she finishes her basic education, but she finds favour in the sight of a couple who offered to sponsor her to any level of education she wishes to reach. While in school, amarachi is approached by a male senior prefect – Nonso – whose main purpose was to seduce amarachi to sleep with him and his friends, but she strongly refuses, and in an attempt to rape her she stabs him in the neck with a biro and nonso dies. As a punishment for her actions she was banished from her birth land and was expected to be escorted out of the village by two men. Nonso’s mother is not pleased by this and she pays the men expected to escort amarachi out of the village to kill amarchi. In an attempt to kill amarachi, amarachi was able to talk herself out of the horrible situation.
Amarachi arrives in the city and after wondering round in despair she walks into a catholic church to spend the night by the altar and was awakened in the morning by a priest in the catholic church – father (Chukwuma Uchegbu ) – while he was going to say his morning prayers.
Amarachi spends the next 12 years of her life with the priest during which she obtained a First-class degree in Business Management and was afterwards appointed as the General Manager of Global Holdings limited (a multi billion Naira company).
The chairman of the company – Chief kalu (Olu Jacobs) is married to Monica (Clarion Chukwura) and they both have a son – Henry (Van Vicker). Henrys refusal to join his father’s company because of his love for medicine caused a huge gap between him and his parents and the war between them had been going on for three years.
Amarachi joins the company and takes the company to a whole new level. With her diligence, integrity and morals, she wins the heart of Chief Kalu and his wife and she was invited to Mrs Kalu’s birthday party to replace their son. Instead Amarachi talks to their son, Henry and is able to restore the lost love and peace back into the family.
Global Holdings discover that a land they had once purchased in Portharcourt had recently been discovered to have oil in it. They intend to lease the land out to an oil company, but they needed the consent of the indigenes of the land. Henry and Amarachi were sent to Portharcourt to gain the consent of the indigenes of the land. They win the consent of the people but in the process they develop feelings for each other.
Amarachi is convinced she loves Henry, but she believes that falling in love with Henry- her boss- is against everything she stands for as a Christian, and she is also scared of what people might say, thinking they might just call her a gold digger. So she decides to resign.
Henry on the other hand also loves Amarachi, but is careful so as not to make amarachi think he is just taking advantage of her because she works for him. As amarachi tenders her resignation letter to her boss (Henry), Henry asks her to marry him.

CINEMATOGRAPHY: The movie opens with a fade-in transition and the uses the pan movement which is accompanied by a long short. The movie makes use of the medium shot on a large scale. The movie also consists of the dolly movement especially during the board meetings. In the movie scenes move from one to the other making use of the dissolve transition and cuts. The movie ends with a fade out.
REFLECTIONS: I believe the story line of this movie is a brilliant and interesting one and I was simply impressed that Mercy Johnson was able to carry out her roles well as well as the rest of the actors. The use of camera however, was just OK. Flaws: there was a part of the movie where shadows of the camera crew were showing on the wall as they performed their duties.
