GRAVE OF DARKNESS BY SAMUEL OMOLE

The story is about a man called Engineer Mobalji Johnson. He is a devoted child of God with a great spiritual value. He is a happily married man with two wonderful kids. One day he came home with good news that, at his place of work, he got promoted not only that, the day was also his wedding anniversary day. While they were getting ready for the celebration, his little son went outside to get his football, but unfortunately for him, he was kidnapped.

When he noticed that his son was kidnapped, he quickly called the police for help. Meanwhile, at the place of the kidnappers, a plan came up that, they should call the parents of the boy and demand for the sum of N3, 000,000. He tried to negotiate with them but they threatened to kill his son if he doesn’t cooperate. He told the police what the kidnappers said, so they decide to come up with a plan. The plan was that, Mr. Johnson should call the kidnappers and tell them that he would pay the money bit by bit and that they should meet at a particular area. The kidnappers agreed and they met at the place they were supposed to meet. Unfortunately for the kidnappers, the area had already being surrounded by the police so they attacked the kidnappers and arrested them. The boy was later rescued and taken to his parents.

  5. From the perspective of this analysis, no one would deny the fact that the movie lacked "subsatance" because the story appeared too simple from the way it was summarized here. However, the truth is that this review did not cover the whole story. The main focus was on another story line that developed during the search for the child. The chief police officer took advantage of the situation and developed an unholy interest in the child's mother in the absence of her husband. The husband found out about this and that led to bitterness in his heart, which developed into unforgiveness that almost send him to hell. The whole story is about the danger of unforgiveness (the grave of darkness), the key lesson is that God is not going to judge you based on people's action to you, but rather, based on your reaction to their actions.
There were one or few instances in the movie, where viewers were left alone to connect the dots (especially in the search for the missing boy), this is my only "minus" for the film as a literature person, but the greatest message that is passed across through the film overrules that single minus. God bless.
