‘One More Kiss’ is about a married woman, Jane (Ini Edo) who helps an old boyfriend Collins (Van Vicker) with the approval of his proposal with the bank she works for. However, we soon learn that she did this out of remorse because she had wronged him in the past. Despite her attempts to apologize and make up for her wrong, he continues to rebuff her. She then asks for one more kiss from him and she would leave him alone, which he refuses her.
On the other hand, her husband, John (Emeka Okoro) is worried about his wife's sudden change in attitude, so he goes to his friend, a manager in his wife's bank (Emma Anyalogu) and asks him to help him find out what is wrong, so he (the manager) calls Jane and Collins together and tries to get them to revisit their past and deal with their issues so that Jane can return to normal. So they flashback to the past and it is revealed what really transpired between the two that caused the big altercation. After they have addressed their issues, they reconcile and say their goodbyes. Jane goes to beg her husband’s forgiveness while Collins moves to Paris to start a new life.
This movie, to be honest, was really annoying to watch. While the storyline made a little sense, the acting and execution were terrible. The writer of the script did a ghastly job with the dialogue, which involved a lot of incorrect sentence constructions and irrelevant, unnecessary questions. For example, in a scene in Part Two where Jane is in the hospital after a car accident, her friend tells the doctor, “I have to call her husband” and he asks “Is she married?”. It is also evident that the doctor in the movie doesn’t know the meaning of ‘coma’ because this was the first time I ever saw a coma patient hear everything that is said around her and respond accordingly.
Another shocking thing about this movie was the costume. Like in a scene in Part One where Collins goes out with a friend to celebrate the approval of his contract and the money he earned, he is shown wearing a full suit (i.e. shirt, tie, and jacket) with matching shorts and a pair of sneakers instead of proper trousers and a pair of shoes. Personally, I thought that was part of the comic relief.
A whole lot more could have been done with this movie that would have made it better than it turned out. Although the sound and picture quality were rather impressive, it was something I had to sit through because I had to and this should not be so. A movie shouldn’t feel like punishment; it should be watched and enjoyed. I was really looking forward to writing a pro-review but as it turns out, there was nothing ‘pro’ about the movie ‘One More Kiss’.
