SYNOPSIS:
The story started with a burial ceremony of the Reverend Osigbogun(Emmanuel Ojo), where Paul Adekola (Lekan Asikhia) fell into a trance and later fainted. He was admitted at a hospital for about two days before he sneaked out of the hospital to have a private conversation with God about what he saw in the trance. He then came home to this wife(Funmi Okeowo) and 2 children who were worried about him. He then narrated his experience to his wife and they felt sober and prayed for the grace to live right by God. He was battling with anger at the time. The revelation shown to him revealed that the old man(the devil) who does not exist in the physical but exists in our hearts causing us to sin, so that we can miss the kingdom of heaven, is dead. He eventually started to confess his sins (he was impersonating his twin brother because he’s brother had a first class certificate, unknown to his wife).Mean while other pastors in that same church were also battling with their own problems. One of them was the G.O(Kolawole Okeowo) always seemed worried to the extent that, even his wife (Busayo Asikhia) started asking God to reveal what he was hiding from her. Another Pastor, Emmanuel ( Segun Okeowo)who was wrongly arrested for knocking someone down with his car was later released. Pastor Paul Adekola got a job with an oil company and was told about his re-ordination, he then claimed that he was not worthy to be a pastor. Despite the fact that he had been attending the church for fifteen years, discipleship training of twelve years and also the fact that he is one of the strong members of the deliverance ministry in the church., he then admitted his ignorance in the word of God. His speech touched the heart of the other pastors present and they all started confessing. They were all shocked when the G.O confessed that he was the one that knocked someone down with his car. They all made attempts to be right with God again. This goes to show that “life in the spirit is indeed possible, though it is not a common.” It is only god’s grace that is sufficient enough to see us through every grace of life.

CINEMATOGRAPHY
• CAMERA SHOTS: the close-up shot and the extreme close-up shot was used( when they Pastor Paul fell into a trance, shortly before he fainted.). the long shot was used (at the beginning during the burial ceremony). The medium shot was used( when there was a dialogue between two or more characters.). The extreme long shot was used at the introductory part of the movie where a river was shown). The different types of shots were used in many scenes in the movie (mostly the medium shot i.e. it was regular).
• CAMERA ANGLE: the high angle, the mid angle and the low angle were regular in the movie but there was no extreme high angle.
• CAMERA MOVEMENT: no visible camera movements. The camera was static in most of the scenes.
• CAMERA SPEED: normal motion i.e. it was recorded at 24 frames per second. No slow motion and no fast motion.
• TRANSITION: fade(in and out) for most of the scenes.
PERSONAL ASSESSMENT
I must comment on the shortcomings of this movie I don’t like the idea of using Yoruba soundtracks in this movie, if the movie is English, the soundtracks should be English. Costumes use was not okay .Also, there was Poor graphics(throughout the movie) and poor sound and visual quality especially at the end when one can hardly see the names of the cast The viewers would hear the background noise. The camera movement at the beginning was poor.
The “How can I run this race? ”monologue seemed unrealistic, the actor recited it like a poem. Also, the scene were Pastor Paul was portrayed as a twin did not look real. The reaction of Pastor Paul’s wife when she found out about her husband’s true personality was not so real too.
I like the fact that was used flashback technique and also the fact that their message was clear.

The fact that Nigerian movies are not properly edited and directed before production is a major challenge. i seriously think that these challenges should be properly addressed in the movie industry, especially Nollywood. Afifoluwa
ReplyDeleteI like the storyline of the movie but i am looking forward to the time real professionals will be involved in movie making in Nigeria. Even if this will increase the cost of movies, Nigeria movie makers should concentrate more on the quality and not the quantities of movies made in Nigeria.
