REVIEWER: Ogunleye Olufunke
The movie, Oreke temi redifines the situation underprivileged and rich people find themselves in life with words such as sorrow, deceit and hope. Oreke temi is a fictional story about a girl who comes from a poor background, goes through challenges life brings her way and still makes it through the thorns. The movie tells the tale of Orekelewa (Doris Simon) who comes from a poor background and at the point of writing her University Matriculation Examination (UME) she is raped by her lustful suitor, Juwon (Femi Adebayo) which leads to an unwanted pregnancy by both parties. This occurs with the help of her long-time friend who does not know Juwon’s true motive for wanting to meet Oreke at his house. She is however saved from are helpless situation by winning a visa lottery and being sponsored with the money her mother (Dupe Jaiyesinmi), borrows from Madam Cash (Eniola Badmus) who makes Oreke’s mother slave in her house until she pays up her debt.
The movie is an exact imitation of what happens in reality. It is an emotional movie and it would therefore not be a surprise if viewers can not hold back their tears while watching it. Oreke’s performance which is sure to hold any viewer spellbound is nothing short of expected. She merged perfectly so well with her role that it is very hard to believe that the movie is not her own true life story. The settings of the movie e.g. costumes, props and make-up are all factors that add up to the overall quality of this movie.
This movie is a must-watch for all regardless of their age, sex or status.
